About Vaada Meter
Every election, parties publish manifestos with hundreds of promises. Within weeks they are forgotten. Vaada Meter keeps score: what was promised, what actually happened, and how late. The jokes live in the packaging. The facts don't change for anyone.
Neutrality, in practice
- No money from political parties, candidates, their affiliates or political advertising. Every funder above ₹1 lakh is listed below.
- Editors declare political affiliations; nobody reviews a party they have worked for.
- Every verdict needs two people: a drafter and a different reviewer. Headline promises need a senior editor.
- Quarterly outside audit: academics and journalists of different leanings check a random sample of 200 verdicts and we publish what they find.
- Equal roast: every meme template and line of copy must work for any party. We count jokes per party every month. Sabki class lete hain.
- No party symbols, logos or photos of politicians. Party names appear as plain text badges in neutral colours.
- No jokes about religion, caste, gender, region, language, disability or anyone's family. Promises on sensitive subjects show in serious mode only.
Funders
None yet. This section lists every funder above ₹1 lakh, with amounts, once there are any.
The mascot
Tota-ji is the roadside fortune-teller's parrot who picks a card. Pink and yellow on purpose, so it carries no party's colours. Tota-ji picks the Promise of the Day, dances when promises are kept, and falls asleep when they stall.
Legal
Verdicts are sourced statements of fact about public promises, with a correction process and right of reply for parties. Manifesto excerpts are quoted for criticism and review. If you represent a party and believe something is wrong, send proof; party submissions are labelled as such.
